Service Levels

Standard Cleaning
Gentle surface cleaning to remove loose dust, debris, and light residue. Appropriate for media in generally stable condition.

Enhanced Cleaning
For heavier residue or mild mold/mildew. Includes careful treatment to reduce contamination and improve safe handling.

Stabilization & Minor Repair
For fragile or compromised media requiring intervention to prevent further damage. May include:

• Film splice repair

• Mold or mildew remediation

• Tape shell replacement (when appropriate supplies are available)

• Film leader replacement

Stabilization focuses on protection and safe handling — not restoration or enhancement.

Film Cleaning & Stabilization (8mm & Super 8)

Priced by footage — increase quantity to match total length.

• Standard Cleaning — $18 per 50 ft

• Enhanced Cleaning (mold / mildew) — $28 per 50 ft

• Stabilization & Minor Repair — $38 per 50 ft
  (Includes splice repair and leader replacement as needed.)

Tape-Based Media (VHS, VHS-C, Audio Cassette)

Priced per item.

• Standard Cleaning — $22 per tape

• Enhanced Cleaning (mold / mildew) — $35 per tape

• Stabilization & Minor Repair — $45 per tape
  (May include shell replacement and internal adjustments when appropriate supplies are available.)

Relationship to Digitization

Cleaning and stabilization are offered as standalone services and may also be required prior to digitization when media condition warrants. This ensures originals can pass safely through playback or scanning equipment without risk of damage.

Shipping Instructions

Customers are responsible for shipping their media to us. Please package items securely and include your order number inside the package.

Return Shipping Options:

• After receiving and assessing your media, click here to add prepaid return shipping for your order. This covers the cost of safely returning your cleaned media via USPS or an alternative carrier.

• If you prefer, you may send a check for return shipping with your media. Please contact us in advance if you choose this option.
